Frank M. Moore
Birth: Jan. 30, 1833
Weakley County
Tennessee, USA
Death: Mar. 12, 1909
Junction
Kimble County
Texas, USA

In the late 1850's Francis M. "Frank" Moore made the long, dangerous trek from Weakley, Tennessee to the small hill country community of Zanzenberg, later named Center Point. There he worked the farmlands, as did his brothers Simpson and John, while his mother Jane tended his household.
At the start of the Civil War Frank enlisted, as a private, in the 36th Regiment Texas Cavalry, Company B (Wood's Regiment). In 1874 came his enlistment with the Texas Rangers, for "duty against raiding parties of Indians". After serving with Company F, he re-enlisted, as a 2nd Lieutenant, in Company D. Having reached the rank of Captain, Frank retired from service in September of 1877.
Captain Moore returned to farming, on what was said to be one of the finest ranches in Kerr County. In 1882 he as elected sheriff and in 1887, he answered perhaps one of his saddest calls, to claim the belongs of his nephew James, John's son, who had been killed in the line of duty. Many of this nephews had joined in his footsteps, becoming Texas Rangers and Jim had been killed during a gun battle with outlaws. Uncle Frank returned from Junction with his nephews horse and belongs. The horse was retired to pasture and Frank's kind deed helped to bring closure to the grieving family. After serving five successive terms as sheriff, he chose not to run for re-election. During his last years, Frank divided his time between Kimble and Kerr Counties. Captain Moore answered his final call on March 12, 1909 at the home of his nephew John Cowsert near Junction, Texas.
A confirmed bachlor, he was survived by his brother Simpson and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was a charter member of Rising Star Masonic Lodge No.429, AF and AM, Center Point, Cattlemen's Association, the Ex-Confederate Veterans.
