Auguste was born in Lafrimbolle, Moselle. He arrived at Ellis Island, New York with his wife and three children on December 7, 1902. Auguste worked with some of his brothers-in-law in the glass and mirror manufacturing business. He lived in Manhattan until being confined to Sea View Hospital on Staten Island.
