Private John Dillon enlisted at the start of the Great War, and had been at the Front for eleven months.

John, who worked in a butchers shop in Derry, was married and had a daughter, Molly.

His name is recorded on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing, Somme, France (see photo on right) and he is commemorated on the Diamond War Memorial in Derry
