Frances Lee "Fannie" Carney Burgess-York
Birth: May 12, 1873
Tennessee, USA
Death: Jul. 15, 1929
Houston County
Tennessee, USA

Frances first married Wiley Burgess having daughters with him. He died before 1900. Frances remarried Fred M York having one son, James York

Believe Frances year of birth on her headstone is conflicting, most likely incorrect. More like year 1859.

Frances was the Daughter of George W Carney ( burial at VA Cemetery on Gallatin Rd., Madison, Davidson County, Tennessee death 1863; Mother, Lucreita / Nabors Neighbors death unknown at this time , estimated in the year of 1860 era. *** There seems to be conflicting data per the TN census records and her headstone! TN census records in 1860 show birth year about 1859 in TN. this continues in 1870 closer to 1859 not 1873. I have not found her TN obit in Houston County TN nor her TN death certificate. I am being to believe her headstone year is " in question". Her sister, Martha Elizabeth Carney married my great great grandfather, her TN death certificate lists birth year 1855 ( she was Andrew Jonathan " Jack" Green's Second wife ). For Genealogy purposes, this Martha was the " mother" my great grand father knew as a mother figure as his mother, Elizabeth " Eliza" Ann Farmer Green died 1891, per my grandfather's father on my dad's side.

Frances Lee Carney used nickname Fannie. She lst married Wiley Burgess which died while their daughter's were too young to recall him. When I started my Genealogy on her
the census lists his age as 45 and she is 18; living in Stewart County TN. This was on the 1880 Stewart County TN census. No Census for 1890 to list the daughter's. They had daughter's, Minnie Elizabeth Burgess -Jones- Lomax, Callie Lee Burgess Rose, Susie Anna Burgess Newman and my great grandmother Willie Ann Burgess Green.

Being young with four daughter's she remarried Fred M York
having a son James York, born abt 1898, and they called him Jim. My great grandmother Willie has a photo of Fred but nothing found on her mother Fannie. They called Fred ' Papa'.

Frances is spelled Francis on the census and then used as name variation Francis, Fannie, Fanny Carney, Burgess and York. Middle initial of L. My great grandmother told me her middle name was Lee. She had a daughter with that middle name.

Frances is the mother of my Great Grandmother, also with conflicting year of birth from death record shows 1891 , headstone as 1893. The daughter was Willie Ann Burgess Green. My father's Grandmother on his dad's side. ( Frances sister, Martha Elizabeth Carney Green married my great grandfather's Father , after the death of his First Wife).
