Mary Edna was born on December 14, 1887 to John L. Binder and Cecelia Ross. Her mother died six weeks later from birth complications. It is not clear why, but this death led to Mary Edna and her older sister, Lillian, being adopted (perhaps informally) by other families in the area. Mary Edna was raised by Frank and Louetta Morgan of the Muck Creek area. Hence she is often referred to as Mary Edna Binder Morgan.
She married Hans Svinth on December 12, 1903 at Muck Creek. They had 13 children together. Mary Edna died on March 30, 1963.
