Occupation-owner-Fryman's General Store (a.k.a. Ellery General Store), Ellery, IL, January, 1960-June, 1964. She ran the store alone from 1/1960 to 8/1961 until her husband retired from the U.S. Army. She cleaned and stocked the shelves, swept and mopped the floors, washed the windows, purchased merchandise and supplies, prepared the taxes, etc. If someone came to the back door needing to purchase groceries when the store was closed, they were never turned away. Also included was the raising of four boys, housecleaning, food preparation, laundry, etc. Mary Jones Vanblaricum, the daughter of Charles and Florence Jones, came down to help with homemaking when the burden of the work load became almost impossible to bare. How she managed to do it all is amazing!
