Ashley A. Smith, 17, of Scotrun, died on Sunday, Nov. 12, at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born in East Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of Terrance and Kimberly Frey Smith of Scotrun.
She was a senior at Pocono Mountain High School East and was a member of the Pocono Mountain East high School Marching Band Color Guard, The National Honor Society, the S.A.D.D., S.A.V.E., and Leo clubs at the school.
She also played recreational softball and was active in the Senior Girl Scouts of America.
She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church of Tannersville.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by three sisters, Kaitlyn Smith, Theresa Smith and Lauren Smith, all of Scotrun; paternal grandfather, Claude Smith of Lake Hopatcong, N.J.; maternal grandmother, Diane Fulton and maternal grandfather, David Bere, both of Mountain Lakes, N.J.; and several aunts and uncles, Joseph and Sandy Smith of Emmaus, Christine and Mark Dean of Greer, S.C., John and Andrea Frey of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Todd and Karin Frey of Blairstown, N.J.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Roberta Smith.
Visitation hours will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16, at Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, at the church with the Rev. Fr. Richard E. Czachor as celebrant. Burial will be held in the Stroudsburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to the Pocono Community Bank, 559 Main St., Stroudsburg, PA 18360, payable to Terrance Smith for a scholarship fund to be set up for the Pocono Mountain East Color Guard Marching Band.
