Her young son William died at the age of three in September of 1879 and was buried in Hooten Cemetery in Winterset, Madison County, Iowa.
Virginia's name appeared on the 1895 Mills County, Iowa census for rural Ingraham Township, along with those of her family, and daughter's husband, Edward Walton. Our family records indicate she died there on February 28, 1895. The census pages for Ingraham were filed with the county on April 26, 1895, two months after Virginia's death.
Her grandson, Ralph Walton was born near Silver City in Mills County on July 14, 1895. His birthplace has been incorrectly stated as Logan in Harrison County, Iowa, which was where his parents married. They were enumerated in Mills County in April, three months before his birth.
Edward's brother, John Walton was also a resident of Ingraham Township in 1895. His son Frank was born in Silver City in December.
The Wares and the Waltons left the State in the winter of 1897-98. They traveled to South Dakota by wagon, settling near Letcher.
Martin never remarried after his wife's death.
