Family History:

Frank's working life began as a miller in central Bohemia, then a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. After emigrating to the US, he worked as a butcher in Chicago. By 1910 he was living in Madison, South Dakota, and working as a laborer. In 1911, Frank homesteaded in Montana and became a rancher and gardener.

1927, Frank suffered a heart attack, and the family sold the homestead and moved to California. Initially, he and wife Esther managed the Winton Apartment Hotel, which included a speakeasy. In 1932, Frank's sister Louisa Yonash Aksamit died, leaving her five children orphaned. The Aksamits came to live with Frank, Esther, and Bob. The next year, Frank and Esther bought a farm in Bellflower and the extended family relocated. Esther worked while Frank farmed.

In 1949, Frank and Esther moved again, to a ranch near Iowa Hill, Placer Co., California where they lived for the remainder of their lives.
