Joey Vento, age 71, was the owner of Geno's, the landmark south Philadelphia cheesesteak stand.
He died from a massive heart attack about 5:30 p.m. at his home on Tuesday, 23 AUG 2011.
Joey opened Geno's in 1966 "with $6 in his pocket, two boxes of steak and some hot dogs."
In June of 2006, Vento and Geno's made headlines over two small signs they posted at their shop stating, "This is AMERICA: WHEN ORDERING 'PLEASE SPEAK ENGLISH.'"
