George D. Wilcox had left home and married by the 1860 census living in Kingston, Delaware Co., Ohio. In 1863, at 30 years of age, while still living in Kingston he is documented as enlisting with Capt William Shunk in the 8th District Ohio Infantry. His brother James is also listed several pages before in the book.) Source: Ancestry.com, U.S., Civil War Draft Registrations Records, 1863-1865, Ohio, 8th, Vol 2 of 3, Class 1, L-Z

**note: Barnum Wilcox, who is living with George's family in 1860 (see above) is listed as enlisting in the 18th Infantry in Licking Co. Ohio. He was described as having brown hair, blue eyes and dark complexion. George was blue eyed and lighter complexioned. I believe they were cousins. A photograph I have of two Civil War soldiers belonging to G.D. Wilcox would fit these descriptions of the two men. Although, I can't be absolutely certain which one is George but I believe he is definitely one of the two men pictured.
