George was originally buried in the Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis. The Union soldiers were removed and reburied in the Memphis National Cemetery across the river in 1868. George Hagler's grave is among the 8000 "unknown" Civil War Union soldier graves in the Memphis National Cemetery.
