Alice was born in Grape Creek, Navarro Co., Texas. Her parents had 8 daughters, 3 of which died at an early age. Alice was their youngest daughter. Her father died when she was about 11 years of age while they were living in Corsicana. In 1920, Alice and her mother lived in Dallas with her older sister Tommie and her husband John Bailey.
She married James Pickens Davie on 03 Aug 1920. Their son James Pickens Davie, Jr. was born in 1923 and their daughter Margaret Alice (Peggy) was born in 1927.
Alice was a very talented seamstress and worked at a ladies apparel store, Smartwear, located in Lakewood as their alterations person. She later did alterations out of her home on Harter Rd. and developed a very large clientele. Alice took great pride in maintaining her home and yard herself. She loved to watch soap operas. She played the organ and was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church, Dallas.
