Mr. Richard Allen "Rick" Poe, age 54, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on July 30, 1958 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was the loving son of the late, Winston Russell and Barbara Ann Hadfield Poe. He was raised in New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona. He was a 1976 graduate of General William Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs. He was united in marriage to Peggy Jean Watkins and this union was blessed with one son, Cody Russell. Rick was inducted into the United States Marine Corps on August 26, 1976 in Denver. He rose to the rank of Private First Class. He was honorably discharged on July 31, 1978 at Camp Pen, California receiving the Good Conduct Medal. Rick began employment with W.E.L. Electric in Pinetop, Arizona and then went to work in security for Kachina. He then worked for Front Range Distributors in Colorado Springs and then in the dairy industry for Royal Farms. He later worked as a painter and contractor for several years. Rick then worked in promotions with Edna from 2005-2011 with G. & M. Promotions and formed many long lasting relationships with the Fraternal Order of Police. He especially enjoyed his time with the local F.O.P. Stacks of Power Lodge No. 128 in Madison. Rick had last worked as a painter for Guerdon Enterprises in Boise, Idaho and returned to Madison in November of last year. Richard died Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 6:05 p.m. at the Clark Rehabilitation Center in Clarksville, Indiana.

Richard will be missed by his best friend: Edna M. Myers of Madison, Indiana; his son: Cody Russell Poe of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his sisters: Charlie Richmond of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, Rebecca Hall of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Carolyn Jo Poe of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his brothers: Ernest Russell Poe of Penrose, Colorado, Rodney Poe of Boise, Idaho, Ronald Poe of Colorado Springs, Colorado; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Winston Russell & Barbara Ann Hadfield Poe.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 3:00 p.m., by Chaplain Billy Chatham at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Madison, Indiana.
Full military honors will be conducted at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Chapel by Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion.
