Death of Mr. Francois Bonifay.

This venerable citizen, after a lingering and painful illness, died at 3 o'clock Sunday morning at the home of his son, Judge F. B. Bonifay, on West Gregory street. Mr. Bonifay's death was the result of debility from old age, he having celebrated his 83rd birthday last November. He was born in Pensacola, and in his death the city loses one of its oldest, if not its oldest, inhabitant. His immediate surviving relatives are his brother, Mr. Leocadia Bonifay, of this city; his sisters, Mrs. Emily Gale, of Mobile, and Mrs. Emanuella Quina, of Pensacola; his sons, Judge F. B. Bonifay and Mr. M. P. Bonifay, of this city, and his daughter Mrs. T. D. Wolfe, of Shrevesport, La., all of whom, except Mrs. Wolf, were with him in his sickness, and ministered to his wants with loving hands.

The funeral took place from St. Michael's (Catholic) church at 9 a.m. yesterday, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. Father McCormick, Mr. Bonifay was buried in St. Michael's cemetery by the side of his wife who died several years since. The pall bearers were Messrs. M. G. Bonifay, M. F. Gonzalez, O. A. Gonzalez, C. H. Gonzalez, Eugene Bonifay and Albert Riera, all of whom were related to the deceased. An interesting incident of the sad occasion was the burial of Mr. Bonifay (by his wish) in the coat in which he was married in this city 61 years ago, and which had been kept in a perfect state of preservation.
