Frederick Frongillo Sr. 88, of Houston, TX, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at home. He was the husband of the late Clare Mary (Olivieri) Frongillo. They had been married for 40 years.

He was born on December 3, 1920 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of the late George W. and Mary (Lombardi) Frongillo.

Mr.Frogillo lived in Newport for many years before moving to Houston. he was a graduate of Boston English High School and attended the New England Conservatory of Music, both in Boston. He was a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard before entering active service in 1940 and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the 747th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapon Batallion.

He was a contract specialist for the Raytheon Co. in Waltham, Dighton,MA, and Portsmouth, RI for 33 years before retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Newport County Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol and was a regional director of the Newport County CYO, having been named the Newport Council CYO Man of the year in 1977. He was a member of the Parish Council of St. Augustin Church and the Parents Club of St.Catherine Academy, both in Newport. He was a member of the Parents Council of the former Mount St. Joseph College in South Kingstown.

He is survived by a daughter, Judith Munson of South Kingstown, and two sons, Frederick Frongillo Jr. of Houston and Michael Frongillo of Killeen, Texas, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late George Frongillo, Annette Maffei, and Gloria Putnam.

A committal service will full miliatary honors was held Satrauday in the Columbarium Chapel at the Rhode Isalnd Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
