Selmer Adolph Ness was born in Great Falls, Cascade County, Montana the first born to Samuel and Sophie (Pederson) Ness on October 14, 1891. Both parents were from Norway and had immigrated to the states at the age of 12. They moved to North Dakota after Selmer's birth and farmed there at Niagara. His brothers and sisters were born on this farm, they were Henry, Agnes, and Myrtle. They moved back to Montana where Selmar met Margaret Rose Small they were married on September 27, 1916. Selmer was 25, Margaret 15. They had two children Myrtle and Jack. Myrtle was born just before Selmar joined the Army during WWI, Jack was born after he came home. Myrtle and Selmar were to go their separate ways. By 1930 they have both remarried. Selmer has met Lillian Mae Huffaker and they were married on December 4, 1926 in Blackfoot, Idaho. To this union were born five more children; Ronnie, Duane, Betty, Ida, and Norma. They lived in Payette County, Idaho and they would live their tell they pass away, Selmer on September 29, 1962 at the age of 70. Lillian remarried twelve years after Selmer death, she lived on another 37 years and passed away on January 8, 1999 at the age of 91. She is buried beside Selmer in the Rosedale Memorial Gardens.
