Alice Kay Lester, a longtime resident of Chandler, went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, July 15, 2006. Alice was born in Whitter, Calif., on Sept. 14, 1942, to Henry Othel Bragg and Lovey Kirby Bragg, who preceded her in death.
Alice graduated from California High School in 1960 and afterwards attended Lawton School for Medical and Dental Assistants in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Soon after arriving in Chandler in 1976, she began working as a dental assistant for Dr. D.C. Pennington. While employed with OG&E, Alice was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and served as the organization's President, Treasurer and District Secretary. She also participated in the Community Round Table and the Chandler Chamber of Commerce Combined Appeal. One of her favorite community events was the Lincoln County Indian Arts Festival, which she served as co-chair in 1997.
Alice was a Christian and a woman of faith and prayer. She attended the Assembly of God Church in Chandler and frequently chaperoned Saturday night youth socials. Besides her faith, her children and family were her greatest passion and devotion. Alice also found pleasure working in her flower and vegetable gardens, cooking a variety of foods and desserts, reading books and magazines and making unique holiday arts and crafts.
