GROVER B. BROTHERS 34, private first class, gunner in a glider division of the air borne troops, was the first Wabash man reported killed in the June 6, 1944 invasion of Normandy.
He was the son of Mrs. Effie L. Brothers, Wabash. Born in Arkansas he had lived in Wabash county twenty-two years, attending Chippewa school.
He was employed by the Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc., entered service early in the war and took part in the invasion of North Africa, Sicily and France. He arrived overseas Mar 21, 1942.

Funeral services for Pfc. Grover B. Brothers have been scheduled to be held in the residence of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Brothers, 35 Sherman Street, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and at the South Side Evangelical United Brethren Church at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. J. Allen Breedlove will officiate. Military services will be conducted by the American Legion and #burial will be in Falls Cemetery. The body will arrive here Monday evening and be taken to the residence Tuesday morning.
