Former Local Pastor Dead at Elk Grove Home
Interment at Wyandotte
Rev. George H. Van Vliet, former pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Oroville, and later an orchardist at Wyandotte, passed away at his home in Elk Grove late Tuesday night. Death was due from infirmaties with which the aged pastor had suffered for several years.
Deceased came to Oroville in 1896. and served as pastor of the local church until 1900. After being superanuated by the Methodist Conference, he became an orchardist at Wyandotte. He kept close to the work of the church even in his late years.
Deceased was married a second time only for a few years prior to his death. He leaves besides his widow, three sons: Frank, Fred and Ernest Van Vliet.
After a service at Elk Grove, the remains will be taken to Wyandotte where funeral services and interment will be made Saturday afternoon. Rev. U.E. Partridge will officiate at the funeral services at Wyandotte.
