My Paternal Grandfather
Tiburcio was the son of Ricardo Ibarra and Augustina Flores. They also lived at Rancho Veladores, Nochistlan, Zacatecas, Mexico.
My grandfather died when he was about 100 years old. He married twice, first he married my grandmother Amada Sandoval, she dies in the early 1950's. Tiburcio later marries again, unknown who his second wife was.
My grandfather lived at Veladores, Nochistlan, Zacatecas, Mexico and in later years lived in the village of Nochistlan. He grew his own tobacco which he hung to dry on the rafters of his home. He would sell the tobacco for income. He also grew vegetables, for the family and selling some for income. He also had some farm animals.
My grandfather was a very strict man, he wouldn't let his children attend school. My dad and his brother would climb out of their window at night and run to the kindly Catholic Priest nearby who taught them to read and write.
My father loved his father very much, and supported him financially in his old age when he could not work anymore.
I met my grandfather once, when I was about twelve years, I remember he was wearing a large sombero, he wasn't a large or very tall man.
He is buried in Nochistlan, though I don't know the name of the cemetery there.
Since my grandfather was a strict man, he was fortunate that we didn't live near him as we would have drove him crazy. I can just imagine him chasing my brothers around with a stick since they were so mischievous.
I found my grandfather in the 1930 Mexico Census. The census states my grandfather was 40 years, married both civil and in the Catholic Church. The following family members in the household:
Tiburcio Ibarra, M., age 40
Amada Sandobal, F., age 37
Ofelia Ibarra, F., age 17
Abigail Ibarra, F., age 15
Serafin Ibarra, M., age 12
Baldomero Ibarra, M., age 11
Maria Ibarra, F., age 4
Agustina Ibarra, F., age 2
All were born in the state of Zacatecas, except for my grandmother, she was born in the state of Jalisco.
Living next door to my grandfather was another daughter, my aunt Juana, age 19 married to Ysidro Donlucas. They were married in the Catholic church. He works as a laborer and they have two children, Ma. Refugio, age 3 and Esther, age 2. All born in the state of Zacatecas, Mexico.
Any one reading this who is familiar with Nochistlan, Zacatecas, Mexico, perhaps you can send me info regarding the cemetery there. Thanks.
A special "Thank You" to Noname for sponsoring my grandmother's memorial. God Bless you.
