Funeral services for Mrs. Rozena Tucker Plonnigs will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at the Fair Park Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA, with the Reverend Waymond Warren officiating. Interment will follow at the Zion Hill Cemetery near Famerville, LA, under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 Noon until time for services at Fair Park Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 2, 2011.
Rozena Tucker Plonnigs was born September 15, 1920, at Farmerville, LA, to the late Perry Jordan Tucker and Della Moore Tucker and she died Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the Oak Woods Home for the Elderly in Mer Rouge, LA.
Mrs. Plonnigs is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, retired Major Herman Plonnigs, Jr.; and two brothers, Truman Tucker and Travis Tucker.
Rozena was a military wife and spent her early years of marriage supporting her husband during his service in occupied Japan. She was an active and devoted member of Fair Park Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday school class as long as her health allowed. She served her church as both a choir member and a longtime Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Plonnigs loved to talk on the phone. She was always available to listen and share her wisdom and loving advice to any who called on her through the course of many years.
Mrs. Plonnigs is survived by her son and his wife of Bastrop, LA; and two brothers of West Monroe, LA, and Springhill, LA.
Serving as pallbearers are Charles Heard, Steve Teel, Ron Nix, Steve Walker, Joe Rodgers, and Steve Vallery.
Honorary pallbearers are Bill McCampbell, Bruce Padgett, and Gary Padgett.
The family suggest for those who wish memorials may be made to either the Fair Park Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Morehouse Humane Society.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to all the personnel who showed such love and consideration for Rozena while a resident at the Oak Woods Home for the Elderly.
