I grew up living next door to my grandparents. Granddaddy used to tell stories of when he was young, his father moved the family to Texas in a covered wagon. I am not sure where they landed, but they tried to farm somewhere near the Mexican border. The farm failed, mainly because of the actions by Ponco Villa, who would run off the Mexicans working on the farm, and stealing livestock. My Great Grandfather, Victor D. Loftiss, moved the family to Memphis, TN. after that.
He and my grandmother, Louise Hatcher, married in Marion, Ark., on December 20, 1931.
