Birth: Jan. 30, 1915
Lincoln County
Oklahoma, USA
Death: Aug. 10, 2002
Oklahoma City

Marie Jensen was born Marie Annabelle Fallwell on January 30, 1915 to Walter Columbus Fallwell and Nancy Susan (Fowler) Fallwell. She was born near Payson, Oklahoma, and lived in several places near Meeker, Harrah, and Oklahoma City. She graduated from Harrah High School where she played basketball and sang in school musical groups. Marie was offered the chance to play professional women's basketball after high school, but chose to stay home and care for her family. She had one older sister, Ruby (Fallwell) Chadwell, and one younger brother, Walter Murl Fallwell. Both preceded her in death.

Marie attended Lane Beauty College and was a practicing beautician at Pearl Scott's Beauty Salon, where she worked until she married John Marvin (Jack) Jensen on November 2, 1946. She had two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Sandy Jensen, and Robert and Cheryl Jensen, all of Oklahoma City; and one step-daughter Judy Jensen Goodman, of Tucson, Arizona, Judy's husband, Ken and their three daughters, son, and grandchildren.

Marie later worked at Genzers Clothing Store and Bass Department Store, both in Yukon, and at Al Rosenthals, Gus Meyer and Hightower stores in Oklahoma City. She was diligent and hard working as well as dedicated to loyal customers.

After her retirement, she enjoyed traveling the world and volunteering for the Salvation Army. She was well read and kept herself informed on current events and political issues. Her mind was clear and sharp until her death. Marie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Yukon and was one of the first females to receive the "Outstanding Citizen of the Year" award of Yukon in the mid-sixties. Marie loved to share stories of social life in Oklahoma City in the 1930s. She, her sister, cousins, and friends loved to dance to big bands, ride the trolley to Belisle Park, and take trips all over Oklahoma as well as other states. She was an avid sports fan and loyally supported her sons and grandsons at their sporting events from little league through college.

Marie is also survived by her four grandsons John Jensen and wife, Tammy Jensen, of Melbourne, Florida, Jake Jensen, of Mobile, Alabama, Kyle Jensen, and Jay Jensen, both of Norman. Marie also had two great grandchildren, Mack and Hannah Jensen, also of Melbourne. She is survived by several cousins, including Dorothy Dawson and Maggie Dawson, both of New Mexico.

Update on Marie's children and grandchildren: Jake Jensen is now married to Melissa Jensen and are living in Yukon, OK. Jake has a step-daughter named Lili. John Jensen and Tammy and their two children Mack and Hannah now live in Oklahoma City, OK. Also, Jay Jensen is now married to Jami Jensen and they have a daughter named Kinley. They live in McKinney, TX.
