Emma Knab was born in Noble Township, Jay County, Indiana, on September 2, 1888, the fifth child of Lewis Knab and Mary Yaeger Knab. Emma's siblings were Caroline,
Frederick "Freddie", Sarah "Sadie", and Anna [Greaf]. A brother and a sister died in infancy. Emma also had a half-brother, Philo Bailey, and a half-sister, DeEtta Bailey [Stoner].
Emma attended Sycamore elementery school in Noble Township with her siblings. The Knab children spoke only German at home and the other children poked fun at them for not being able to speak English. The Knab children quickly learned English and never spoke German away from home after that unless their parents were with them.
On October 26, 1907 Emma married William Isaac "Ike" Myers, and they joined the Salamonia Christian Church. Six children were born to the couple on their farm in Noble Township: Henry Ward, Marion Leo, Cleo Doris [Sommers], Dorwin Keith, William Floyd, and Isaac Junior.
Emma and Isaac also raised their grand-daughter Judy (daughter of Floyd) after the death of Judy's mother.
Both widowed, Emma and her sister Sadie spent their last few years living across the alley from each other on Ship Street in Portland. Emma died on August 10, 1973 in the Jay County Hospital in Portland.
