VETERAN: Jack Kenneth Griswold
Jack passed away Thursday afternoon, May 10th. with all Family Members near by.
Jack Kenneth was born October 11, 1922, in Hellgate, to John Kiley and Anna Beaudette.
When Jack was six years old, he was adopted by Monroe Justin and Myrtle Daisey Dellis Griswold.
Jack grew up on the Ranch in Cohagen, working on the ranch and attended the local school.
In 1948, he came to Anaconda and worked for the Anaconda Company at the Smelter as a pipe fitter.
Jack enlisted into the Army and served in World War II and the Korean War.
On February 10, 1951, he married Alice Locket in Richmond, VA: their marriage was blessed with six children.
Following Jack's discharge from the military, he returned to Anaconda with his wife and went back to work at the Smelter, working as a pipefitter in the reverbs and converters for the next 32 years before retiring in 1980.
He was a 50 year member of the U.A. local pipe fitters union #41.
Jack was a member of the United Methodist Church.
He loved the outdoors, including camping, fishing, hunting, pitching horses, and playing cards with the kids and grandchildren.
He was a devoted father and grandfather, he enjoyed being with family and friends.
Jack enjoyed helping others in need.
He will be missed by all.
Memorial donations to the choice of the donor are suggested in his memory.
Surviving include his three sons and daughter-in-law, John "Gris" and Mary McKernan, of Anaconda; Ken and Linda, of Fairfield, Ohio, Terry and Donna of Albany, Oregon;
Three daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Chris Farrand, of Anchorage, Alaska, Betty Griswold, of Pleasanton, CA, Karen and Mike Stroh, of Pleasanton, CA.,
10 grandchildren, Jack, Jonathan, Lucas, Harry and Joe Griswold, Brian and Sarah Farrand, Jamie and Sean Griswold and Teresa Stroh Bradley;
Two great grandchildren, Jeremy Michael and Kyle Matthew Bradley;
Several nieces and nephews, including Stan and Sandi Beaudette, of Anaconda and former resident Jim Grankow of Fairbanks, AK., and great-nephews, Jason and Jesse Beaudette.
Jack is preceded in death by both sets of parents, wife Alice, who died in 1994, and an infant son, James Matthew, who died in 1965.
Service of Remembrances for Jack Kenneth Griswold, 84, was conducted from the United Methodist Church, Wednesday, May 16, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Kent Elliott officiating.
The duet of Ray and Cynthia Tribelhorn sang "How Great Tho Art" and What a Friend We Have In Jesus". Congregational hymn was "Amazing Grace" Roberta Campbell was the organist.
Recessional song was "On Eagle's Wings."
Betty Griswold daughter of Jack, shared the family memories.
Internment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Military Honors by the Anaconda American Legion Color Guard.
He will be laid to rest next to his wife, Alice.
Casket bearers were; John Griswold, Ken Griswold, Terry Griswold, Sean Griswold, Jack Griswold and Mike Stroh, Honorary-bearer was Lucas Griswold.
A balloon release was held following the committal service.
Family and friends returned to the Church where a luncheon was served in the Memorial Room.
Visitation was held on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the Church, while a video collage was shown.
Services are under the care of KT Riddle Funeral Homes.
