~~My children's paternal grandfather~~

Arnold Geyer was the son of Oswald and Florence Geyer, who were born, raised and died in Frankenmuth, Michigan.

He was also born in Frankenmuth, Michigan, and his parents were German. They both spoke German fluently.

Raised on a farm on the outskirts of Frankenmuth, he went to a Lutheran school and then graduated from a Lutheran College. He became a Lutheran school teacher and coach. He married, and lived in Evanston, Illinois, where he and his wife taught in a parochial school, and they began raising their family. Eventually, the family moved downstate, to Buckley, Illinois, and he took a position with a Lutheran School there coaching and teaching.

After teaching for so many years in Lutheran schools, he then took a position as a civilian employee of the U.S. Air Force at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois. He was an instructor in their weather school there. Arnie became seriously ill just one month after he retired from his government job, and died a month after that.

Arnie married Carol Smith on June 20, 1954. Carol was born January 28th, 1933. Together they raised 5 children.

Rest in peace Arnie.
