Donald "M" Shelley, age 76, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 9, 2002.

He will be greatly missed by his loved ones.

He was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Richfield, Idaho to George Heber Shelley and Orba Nella Mower Shelley, and grew up in the small mining town of Clear Creek, Utah.

He attended schools in Clear Creek, Mount Pleasant, and Price, and later graduated from Utah Vocational School.

He married VonCeile Bruce of La Grande, Oregon, in the Manti Temple on January 30, 1948.

He was a Third Class Gun Runner on the "U.S.S. Philippine Sea."

He served bravely and proudly in the defense of his country during both World War II and the Korean War.

He loved his family, fly fishing, rock hunting, and telling stories.

He also loved work whether it was on the trains at Pacific States Pipe and Ironton or at Swenson's Mobile.

He later ran his own Chevron Station on the corner of 5th West and 5th North in Provo.

For 31 years he helped people with his towing service (Don Shelley Towing).

He served his church as a Deacon's Supervisor, a Stake Missionary, and a Welfare Clerk in the Bishopric and as Seventies Group Leader.

He was an Assistant Scout Master and enjoyed participating in the "Pinewood Derby" with each of his sons.

He is survived by his wife and five children: Gary M. Shelley (Marie), Ken L. Shelley (Lucille), Cheryl R. Halliday (Randy), Don D. Shelley, Janeen T. Randall (George), 17 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Also by two sisters: Ruby Young, and Kathleen Hatch (Aurell); two brothers: Heber J. Shelley (Sharlene), and H. Merlin Shelley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Sam Shelley, and his sister Wanda Shelley Grames.

The family wishes to express thanks to all the caring medical personnel who helped Don these past two years, especially Melanie, Katherine, Tiffany and Ann.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. in the Pioneer Fourth Ward, 376 North 700 West, Provo.

A viewing will be held at Walker Family Mortuary, 85 East 300 South, Provo on Wednesday, June 12, 2002, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, June 13, 2002, from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment will be in East Lawn Memorial Hills.

Services are under the direction of Walker Family Mortuary of Provo.
