Lorine Louise Douglas Wallace
Birth: Nov. 16, 1919
Joplin
Jasper County
Missouri, USA
Death: Oct. 11, 1999
Joplin
Jasper County
Missouri, USA

FATHER: Adolphus 'Dolph' Douglas
MOTHER: Osa Ola Kirby Douglas

Lorine was the middle child of 5 girls.

SISTERS:
Helen June Buckingham Sowersby
Verna Jeanne Buckingham Gustafson
Norma Faye Douglas Reeves
Mary Lou Douglas Fenske

****************************************

Lorine was married to:
HUSBAND - Eugene Earnest Wallace
on January 21, 1939.
They were married for 46 years before his passing in November 1985

Her joy-in-life dimmed when the love-of-her-life, her husband Eugene passed away. For the next 14 years, she had to carry on alone. This burden was very difficult for her.

***************************************

Unable to have children, after 12 years of marriage, they adopted their blonde haired, blue-eyed baby girl at 4 days old in January 1951. They named her 'Nancy Jean Wallace'!

She was Grannie to two children:
(1) GRANDSON - Michael Christopher Wilson
(2) GRANDSON - Scott Randall Wilson

GREAT-GRANDMOTHER to Derek Andrew Wilson

Lorine was a very good, loving grandmother to both the boys, loving them and they loved their 'Grannie' in return.

She was able to see, enjoy and express her pride in her Great-Grandson, Derek Andrew (Scott's son) for almost a year before she passed away.

Taking great joy in being a homemaker and caring for her family, this activity was the primary focus of her being.

Lorine eventually developed macular degeneration in her eyes. The last 5 years of her life, her sight was greatly diminished.
Her little dog, a Yorkshire Silkie named Susie was much company and comfort to her.

As her daughter, I remember how much she lovingly cared for me as a child. When I was very little, I called her 'Mer' because I couldn't say mom or mother. As a little girl, she gave me the best care and attention, spending hours playing in the sandbox making sand pies and cakes, playing dollies and paper dolls. I was later, able to return that care when she was older and needed care and attention from me.
Now, missing her always. ♥!♥
