Ken had some time off Wednesday so took in a game of Golf, when he suddenly collapsed, was taken to the hospital and died of a heartache. Services will be conducted for the family only.
Ken Whitener was a third-grader in Amarillo, Texas, when he got his first book about magic.
"That got me interested," he said.
Three years later, he saw a magician perform at the opening of the Firestone building in Dallas, and his interest deepened.
But it was a movie about a hypnotist he saw that same year that sealed his professional fate: "I got an encyclopedia and learned about hypnotism," Whitener said. "I hypnotized a 12-year-old friend at school every day for three weeks."
A graduate of the University of Dallas, Ken Whitener was parlayed with talents and skills that turned into a 25 year career of motivation, teaching and entertainment... taking him to the top of his field. As one of the world's most respected and requested performers, Ken specialized in performance enhancement, motivational speaking, stage and clinical hypnosis, and corporate entertainment. Ken's talents had been showcased nationwide on television, print and radio, he had logged over 6500 speaking engagements presented in person to over ONE MILLION people. He headlined on the finest cruise ships and the main stages of Las Vegas. Performing the world over, from San Diego to Singapore, Ken wowed audiences from corporate giants such as Hewlett Packard, Oracle, McDonald's, and Coca Cola to world famous entertainment destinations such as Walt Disney World, Six Flags, and Busch Gardens.
Ken also started entertaining the Marine Corps community while his daughter was serving as a Marine at Camp Pendleton, Calif. They were looking for a hypnotist for a safety brief, When is daughter said ‘My dad's a hypnotist.' And that is how it all started." Ken did 2 years with the Marines and Loved it and was looking forward to another return to make the Marines Laugh.

His hypnosis shows always made the audience the star and no two shows were ever the same. The Laff Spot staff greatly admired Ken and his wife Nancy, the Whitener's always went out of their way to show them their appreciation"
Bobby Jewell owner of Side Splitters in Tampa says "He drew people constantly for us," Mr. Whitener performed more than 200 times!
Nick Sessa owner of the Palace Grand in Spring Hill says "Once people heard he might be coming, they would say, 'Hey, when is Ken coming back?'" Over the last five years, Ken consistently sold out 350-seat engagements!
Ken will be with us forever with just a click here and there.
Thanks to people who loved him and places like youtube, Ken will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him and for those of you who never got the chance.
