Elizabeth Taylor Beeby
Birth: 1799, England
Death: Oct. 27, 1841
Delaware County
Pennsylvania, USA

English emigrant and early pioneer of Delaware County, Pennsylvania; she was born about 1799 in England. She married Daniel Beeby, also of Elstow, Bedford, England.

In England, eight children were born to Daniel and Elizabeth: Henry, Ann, William George, Mary, Elizabeth, Hannah, and Benjamin. In 1832, the family sailed to America on the ship Fame. Elizabeth was carrying her ninth child during the journey. The family arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on June 23, 1832. Two weeks later, on July 7, her son Richard was born. The family remained in Philadelphia for several years.

By 1840, the family settled in Thornbury township (near Cheyney) in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, where Daniel built a log home and was a farmer for many years.

Daniel and Elizabeth had five more children, all born in Pennsylvania: John, Susan, Daniel W., Vernon Taylor, and Israel P.

Elizabeth was only 41 years of age when she died on October 27, 1841 in Thornbury township. She had brought 13 children into the world, and they would miss her dearly. Her youngest child, Israel, was only about one year old when his mother died.

"She sleeps in Jesus' Angels watch
Above her lonely dust.
While ages roll and swiftly came
She triumphs with the just
The trumpet sounds the dead arise
And mid the crowd appears
The faithful servant's radiant face.
No more bedewed with tears."
