Birth: Aug. 15, 1814
Death: Dec. 3, 1889

A nurse during the Civil War, Clapp founded the Ladies Union Aid Society in 1861. She became the President of the LUAS & also worked as a member of the Western Sanitary Commission (WSC). Clapp became one of St. Louis' leading spokeswoman for veterans benefits & pensions for female nurses after the war. (bio by: Connie Nisinger)
