William Clyde ELLIS, 89, area resident since 1959 died at 6 p.m. on Thursday in the Heritage Villa Nursing Center in Bartlesville. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday in the Memory Chapel of the Arnold Moore Funeral Residence. Internment will be directed in the Ramona Cemetery by Arnold Moore Funeral Service.
A native of Oklahoma, William Clyde ELLIS was born Sept. 18, 1906, at Valliant in McCurtain County. He was the son of Isaac and Florence (PHIPPS) ELLIS.
He was raised and received his education in rural McCurtain County. He and Lela Lula TINSLEY were married March 17, 1928, at El Reno, where Mr. ELLIS was active in farming interests in Canadian County, near El Reno.
Mr. ELLIS was employed by the Rock Island Railroad in 1938, and continued his employment with them until 1945, when he returned to his farming interests in Osage County. He and Mrs. ELLIS were residents of Hominy until 1959, when they moved to Ramona.
Mr. ELLIS was employed by the City of Ramona until he retired in 1971, and they have continued their residence in Ramona, living in retirement.
Mr. ELLIS was a member of the Happy Hill Church and is survived by his wife; a daughter Pauline; three grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, four brothers and a son, Clyde Deane in 1935.
