Mary Joanne Olsen received her well deserved wings on November 8, 2012. She entered into her eternal resting place with her Heavenly Father and was reunited with her best friend, soul mate and love of her life, Norman "Bud" Olsen, as he was waiting patiently, saying, "What took you so long 'woman'?" Joanne was born in Eureka on July 7, 1943 and was a lifelong resident of Humboldt County and graduated from Eureka High in 1961. While raising her son Trent Hauger she met Bud Olsen in 1968. They were married in 1970 and added two more beloved children, Becky and Eric to their family. Through the years Joanne worked on and off, while raising her children. She worked mostly for Henderson Center Pharmacy where she developed many lifelong friendships and was known for her smile, open ear and caring personality. She retired in 2006 and has been enjoying her family and grandchildren ever since. Her grandchildren Kailee, Corrinne, Logan and Brylee were the lights of her life. Joanne, mother, grandmother, sister and friend was a rock and inspiration to all around her. Her unconditional love was a testament to who she was and what she gave. She will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know her. Joanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband Norman "Bud" Sidney Olsen Jr., her son David Robert Hauger Jr., her mother Esther Lillian Anderson, father James Walter Anderson and her brother Robert Eugene Anderson. She is survived by her children, Trent Hauger and his wife Jackie, Rebecca Olsen and her partner Justin Tallman, Eric Olsen, her grandchildren Kailee Olsen, Caleb Gronki, Corrinne Hauger, Logan and Brylee Tallman, her mother-in-law Barbara Olsen Gillenwater and her husband George, her siblings Judith Vanzelf, Jeanette Watkins and her husband Gary, and Charles Anderson, also many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends whom she loved endlessly. "A friend is one to whom one may pour out the contents of one's heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that gentle hands will take and sift it, keep what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away."
