He was my Great, Great, Great, Grandfather. He was born in January of 1834 in Kentucky to Aaron Wilson Sr. and Queeney (Duvall) Wilson. Aaron was third born of six children: Solomon, Louisa, Susan, Eliga, and Elijah. He married Flora Eddy in 1854 and from this union five children were born; Florence D. (Wilson) Dimmitt, Queeney (Wilson) Wilson, David Wilson, Mary (Wilson) Stephens, and Laura (Wilson) Dickerson. After Flora passed away in 1860, he later married Susan Nash in 1875 and from this union two children were born. John A. Wilson, and Ida Wilson. Aaron passed away on January 24, 1916 and was laid to eternal rest in Gold Hill Cemetery in Old Shawneetown, Illinois.

Slaves to Harrison Wilson.

Aaron Wilson (colored), farmer, was born in Kentucky in 1834, a son of Aaron, Sr., and Queeney (Duvall) Wilson. Their father is supposed to have been a slave in Virginia of E. Wilson, afterward a resident of Kentucky. He remained in bondage about fifty years, during which time he was married and had several children. He finally obtained his freedom, and purchased his wife and three children, the rest of whom continued slaves until the emancipation. He then went to Illinois, where he died in 1848 in Gallatin County. The mother was born in Union County, Ky., and died in 1858, about eighty years old. Our subject has been twice married, having left home at twenty-one. In 1854 he married Flora Eddy. Five of their six children are living: Flora, wife of John Dimmitt; Queeney, wife of George Wilson; Mary, wife of James Stephens; Laura, wife of E. Dickerson, and David. Mrs. Wilson died in 1860. In 1875 he married Susan Nash, by whom he had two children, one living John. Since his eleven years as drayman in Shawneetown, he has been farming, and is owner of 178 acres of improved land, five miles west of Shawneetown. His first wife, a native of Virginia, was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Mr. Wilson is a Republican and a Mason.
