On May 10, 1910 he married Anna Rippl at St. Mary's Church in Menasha.
Joseph and Anna had ten children. Anna died in 1934 and left Joseph to raise the children on his own. Joseph also worked his farm and worked in a mill.
One of Joseph's favorite past times was fishing. He had a boat that he thought the world of and was out there every chance he could get.
He died on Feb. 11, 1860 at the age of 80. He is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Menasha, WI with his wife and a son and daughter. The rest of his children along with his parents are also in the same cemetery.
