Charles Eugene Byrum, 53, 0f 320 N. Marion St. died at 3:15 P.M. January 21, 1984, in St. Joseph Hospital.

He was born March 11, 1930, at Martinsburg to Charles B. and Clara E. Lathrop Byrum.

He had been a resident of Ottumwa all his life and graduated from Blakesburg High School. He had worked for Dickey Ford Co. and Norris Chrysler Garage. He married Patty Meeker June 12, 1953.

He is survived by his wife Patty Meeker: Children Tony Byrum of Okla., James and Jerry Of Ottumwa and Terry of Batavia; a daughter, Jo Ann Rea of Agency; three grandchildren; two sisters, Fay Hayes of Martinsburg and Grace Kelley of Hedrick; and three brothers, Owen of Linby, Lawrence of Seattle, Wash., and Clifford.

the service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home, the Rev. Lafe Culver of The Church officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery at Martinsburg.

Pallbearers will be Cliff Davis, Bob Walters, Bill Carr, Oscar Vaal, Lary Rose, Carroll White and Steve Millhouse.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
