Basil was a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University and the University of Ohio School of Law. He was a World War II Veteran.
Basil and Jo Ann McCarty were married May 7, 1955.

CPL. BASIL J. BORITZKI, 18-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Boritzki, 1425 South Fremont, was inducted into the service on March 2, 1943, and received his basic training at Atlantic City, N.J. After being promoted to corporal he was transferred to the signal training radio school at Fort Monmouth, N.J.
He completed the course on October 29, and was then sent to Jefferson Barracks for assignment. He was shipped overseas on January 5. He is a graduate of Greenwood High school and was a member of the band and was drum major several years. At the time of his induction, he was attending STC where he was majoring in mathematics. He was an active member of the dramatic club and band while in school there.
