Mrs. Nancy Jane Blevins, 74, of Wilson Creek, died Saturday, November 25, 1950. Her health had been declining slowly the past couple years.
She was born in Ashe County, North Carolina on June 30, 1876. She married Hampton Riley Blevins on May 25, 1891 and they were married for 54 years.
Janey was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker and sometimes, if needed, a helping hand to her husband and sons on the farm. Janey never attended school and did not learn how to read nor write. She will be remembered for being humorous, a aid to those in need, and loved by everyone around her.
Mrs. Blevins is preceded into her passing by her parents; husband, Hampton R. Blevins; sons, Roscoe J., John G., and Carl G.; daughter, Melinda A.; grandsons; Basil Beamon and an Infant Blevins.
She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Amanda Shepherd of Whitetop, Mrs. Nannie Beamon of Rhodell, W. Va, Mrs. Lucinda Townsend of Banner Elk, NC, Mrs. Dovie Farmer of Hurricane, NC; son, Dewey Blevins of Whitetop; 23 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. Burial was in Byars Cemetery.
