Born Sidney Lovie Parris, she was the 3rd child and daughter of Seaborn Ivy and Dovie Susannah (Whitman) Denson. She married R. Lee Parris on December 10, 1922 in Winston County AL. This union produced two children: Rudolph (Rudy) Parris (born July 14, 1924 in Winston County AL and died in Statesville NC in 1972) and Shelby Suzanne (Parris) Vest, born August 17, 1939 in New Philadelphia OH. She is also survivied by five grandchildren and several great-grandshildren. Other than Winston County, Alabama, she and her husband resided in New Philadelphia Ohio (late 1920s - mid-1930s), Lima, Ohio (mid-1930s to about 1950), Elkhart, Indiana (mid-1950s to 1965), and Statesville, North Carolina (1965 - 1968). She moved from Statesville, North Carolina to Winston County, Alabama sometime in the 1970s.
