Born in Dieburg, Hessen Darmstadt, Germany, son of Peter Mueth and Anna Marie Kern, who immigrated to the US.
John Mueth immigrated to U.S., sailing from Hamburg May 18, 1881, after being exempt from compulsory military duty due to one or two crooked fingers on right hand. Worked as a stonemason in Germany. Worked in various parts of the U.S. for months at a time as a foreman for a St. Louis masonry company, and his stated occupation was as a stone mason.
Married Margaret "Maggie" Mueth (nee Bockius) on Nov. 25, 1884 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church at 8th and Allen in St. Louis. Margaret was born in Missouri.
Father of Mary Buehler, Caroline Schamoni, John Mueth Jr., Rose Mueth, Frank Joseph, Ida Mueth, Henry Mueth, Rev. Edward Mueth, and Joseph P. Mueth. He built their family home at 1920 Nebraska, St. Louis, MO.
John Mueth was naturalized in the St. Louis, MO., Nov. 12, 1892.
On 5/23/1921 John Mueth applied for a Passport to travel to Europe, specifically Holland, Switzerland, France and Italy, to "travel and visit relatives." He planned to leave the US from the port of New York, sailing on the New Amsterdam, on 7/9/1921.
On 9/30/1921, he arrived back in US via Ellis Island at age 61. Ship named Rotterdam, traveling from Rotterdam port.
