Married to Louise Danneman Mueth on Sept. 3, 1925. Three daughters: Ruth, Edna, and Alice.
Joseph Mueth and Louise Danneman dated, but broke up because he was Catholic, and she was Lutheran. Later, they ran into each other on the streetcar and decided to again pursue the relationship. Louise converted to Catholicism, much to her parent's disappointment.
Joseph and Louise moved from St. Louis City to Overland, MO, which then was considered to be the country, for the health of Louise. Louise was ill for many years and died when Joseph was 40-years-old, and the girls were ages 9, 11, and 13. He raised the 3 girls during the depression, and never remarried. He worked as a bookkeeper.
He was a devout Catholic and was active in his church.
