John and Minnie Brown family are pictured center right.
Minnie Roberts Mauney was the youngest daughter of eight children born to Mary Jane and A.A.Mauney. With an "ear" for music, Minnie played the piano, guitar, and harmonica. She was a good cook, an expert seamstress, and loved to knit, crochet, and needlepoint. A modern woman for her day, she attended a girls' boarding school, taught school for three years, graduated from business college, and worked for J. B. Ivey's in Charlotte before marrying John R. Brown in 1909. Minnie was also a good business woman—she owned a grocery store, a meat market, and owned and managed two boarding houses in Chattanooga.
A loving mother of two daughters and grandmother of six, she liked to dance, play cards, attend movies, and swim at the beach.
She married (2nd) Morgan L. McBroom and lived in Homestead, Florida for many years. Minnie was fortunate to be in reasonably good health until the last year of her long life.
