Isaac Bonsall he was on a U.S.troop ship on it's way to Texas. In the early spring of 1846, ship went down off the coast of Mermentau River, all were lost except three. Isaac was one. John W.Sweeney and wife Sarah Jane Hickok saved Isaacs' life, he married their daughter Mary Elizabeth Sweeney, circa May 1846. What a love story...and this is how he was down in La.
