A Tribute to Norman Charles Cogan
A loved one from us has gone. A voice we love is stilled. A place is vacant in our home, which can never be filled. Norm was not only our beloved brother but also our friend.
All it ever took was a simple telephone call whenever we were in need and immediately Norm responded, "Sure I can help, be right there".
Two times really stand out, the first one was when our very large ash tree died, Norm was right there to watch the silent giant fall by guiding it safely down. The next time was when we decided to move from Wixom to Harrison. Denny borrowed Al's small trailer and one load after another was loaded and driven three hours away to be stored until the big move was made. Because of the travel time, this was an all-day affair. This continued until there just wasn't any more room to store.
You just never knew when Norm would pull up in the front of the house for one of his many visits to our home. It was a lot of fun listening to how it was in the days gone by. One of the funniest things was when Grandpa Cogan had to tie the top of the Christmas Tree to the ceiling as that was the only way it would not get tipped over! It seemed that Al & Eric were always on one team and Norm & Denny on the other so you can guess who won. Another great time was camping in Rose City when we were first married. Norm stayed up all night to keep the fire pit alive and burning. On this trip Denny, Betty & Norm all rode in our new Jeep all the way to the top of Hot Dog Hill. Quite a feat as many dune buggies were unable to reach the top through all the sand. Denny received a "hug" from brother Al!
Once in Harrison, Norm visited several times and a new TV program became a standard in our home - "Fox and Friends"! Fishing yielded little results but Norm did catch a large minnow or small fish, however you want to look at it.
In closing, "Eternal rest grant him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him"
All our Love,
Denny & Betty
