His mother died when he & his sister were very young. They were essentially raised by their grandparents (Frederick & Ida). But Fred considered Mrs. Corcoran, his best friend Connie C's mother, to be his "real" mother when he was growing up. The Corcorans remained dear friends until Fred's death, and Mrs. Corcoran outlived him. Another person dear to him was Lilly, the maid, who left him silver and other items when she died. (Dr. C. J. Corcoran, 2950 N. Marietta Ave.) Attended Hartford Avenue School, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Graduated 8th grade 1942. By this time, his father was seeing Dessa. Member of Den 10 of Boys Scouts of America. Fellow scouts in 1939: Carl John, Don Johnson, T.O. Mayhew, Paul Meissner, Ed Schneiderman, Clark Young. Attended East Division High School (and Shorewood High School?). Graduated June, 1946. 4 Nov. 1946 issued "Soldier's Permanent Pass - Class A". Army Serial #46086077, Pvt, 74th QM Tng Co, Camp Lee, VA. 1st Platoon, Sgt Payne, Platoon Sergeant, basic training. Returned to U.S. on the "General Omar Bundy", 13 May 1947 via Hawaii; discharged 6/8/1947. He also served in the 32nd Division Artillery of the Wisconsin National Guard and was discharged October 1, 1953. His discharge papers were signed by Uncle Fritz. His second car was a 1931 Chevrolet with "F.B." on passenger door (9/47), which he took with him to college at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He was invited to pledge with Kappa Sigma fraternity (his father's fraternity), Beta Epsilon chapter. His scrapbooks are filled with photos of frat parties and entertainments. Dated Pat Pelikan, Martha Price. Met lifetime friends Paul Franke, Chuck LaBahn at Madison. Evidently met Claudine at a Pier Party he organized in July, 1951, when she was in Madison for summer school. Wolf, St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Bainbridge, New York. After their marriage, they lived in Bainbridge for a brief time, and Fred worked for his father-in-law at Chas. H. Eldred Mill. This did not last very long, however. Fred & Dean returned to Milwaukee. University of Wisconsin, BS 1951 April 1962 formed Repcor, Inc, in partnership with Jack Luthe. Repcor was the business he still owned at the time of his death, and in the last few years became extremely lucrative. Several years after Jack died, Fred brought his cousin into the business, Tom Hurd Jr. Tom bought out the business upon Fred's death.
