| Birth: | Jan. 28, 1833 | | Death: | Dec. 8, 1895 |  William Brandt was born in Richmond County, Ohio, in 1833, the fifth child of David and Carheryn Brandt. He came to Kingston in 1852, where he married three times.
Of his two children by Mary McBride (1830-1856), Jane "Jennie" married Horace Botthoff in 1872, but from this marriage only a daughter named Mae is known. The second child, William John, married Lory Hogsett in 1880. One of their children, Effie, died at the age of eleven in 1897 at the home of her aunt, Mrs. I. N. Hopkins. Other children are Etta and Frank.
William Brandt served with distinction during the Civil War and by the end of the war held the rank of 1st Sgt.
In 1865 he married Mary Mumpower. Of his two children by her, Lillie married Nolan Rigdon in 1890, and among their children were Ruth, Dan, John, and Frederick. Harry, the second child, married Nannie Pearl Moore in 1894, and one child is known, Clara P.
Of William Brandt's two children by Amanda Pounds, May married Arthur McQuillen in 1898, and they had a daughter Leta. May married William W. Altman in 1902, and they reared Leta under the name Altman. In addition, they had a son named Orson. Ada, the second child of William and Amanda Brandt, married Orson Boutwell in 1895, and their children included Clarence, Beulah, Dorothy, and Grace.
