Son of Harry Muff and Marguerite Agnes Alsen, JB grew up in Minneapolis, Hennepin, MN.
1) Doris Arlene Emerson before 1939 in Minnesota.
2) Fetna Louise "Fette" Koory, whom he married on August 8, 1944, in Las Vegas, Clark, NE, and with whom he had three children: Janet, Nancy and James B. Muff Jr. They were divorced on October 12, 1959, in Clark Co., NE.
3) Annie Unknown.
An aircraft engineer by occupation, JB worked for a time with Pan American Airways, and then with the China National Aviation Corporation (CNAC), a group that pioneered air routes over "the Hump," transporting supplies and personnel during World War II.
After the War, he went into partnership with Eddie Quin, a pilot friend from CNAC and the Jam Sahib (read: Maharajah) of Nawanagar, India, to form a private airline. The airline, Jamair, moved from Jamnagar to Calcutta, India, and was eventually nationalized by the Indian Government (1953). To have his life's work overtaken like this was a terrible blow to JB, but he remained a Director of the company until his death in 1977.
