James Bertram "JB" Muff, Sr
Birth: Aug. 21, 1916
Ward County
North Dakota, USA
Death: Jul. 29, 1977
West Bengal, India

Son of Harry Muff and Marguerite Agnes Alsen, JB grew up in Minneapolis, Hennepin, MN.
Husband of:
1) Doris A. Unknown;
2) Fetna Louise "Fette" Koory, whom he married on Aug. 8, 1944, in Las Vegas, Clark, NE, and with whom he had three children: Janet, Nancy and James B. Muff Jr.
3) Annie Unknown.
An aircraft engineer by occupation, JB worked for a time with Pan American Airways, and then with the China National Aviation Corporation (CNAC), a group that pioneered air routes over "the Hump," transporting supplies and personnel during World War II.
After the War, he went into partnership with Eddie Quin, a pilot friend from CNAC and the Jam Sahib (read: Maharajah) of Nawanagar to form a private airline. The airline, Jamair, moved from Jamnagar to Calcutta, India, and was eventually nationalized by the Indian Government (1953). To have his life's work overtaken like this was a terrible blow to JB, but he remained a Director of the company until his death in 1977.

Do you remember when you took us to Darjeeling? Maybe 1952? Something like that. And how cold it was? And how amazingly beautiful, looking out from the village at the Kanchenjunga massif? We'll be returning in less than a month - Jimmy, his family, J...(Read more)
