Son of Harry Muff and Marguerite Agnes Alsen, JB grew up in Minneapolis, Hennepin, MN.
1) Doris A. Unknown;
2) Fetna Louise "Fette" Koory, whom he married on Aug. 8, 1944, in Las Vegas, Clark, NE, and with whom he had three children: Janet, Nancy and James B. Muff Jr.
3) Annie Unknown.
An aircraft engineer by occupation, JB worked for a time with Pan American Airways, and then with the China National Aviation Corporation (CNAC), a group that pioneered air routes over "the Hump," transporting supplies and personnel during World War II.
After the War, he went into partnership with Eddie Quin, a pilot friend from CNAC and the Jam Sahib (read: Maharajah) of Nawanagar to form a private airline. The airline, Jamair, moved from Jamnagar to Calcutta, India, and was eventually nationalized by the Indian Government (1953). To have his life's work overtaken like this was a terrible blow to JB, but he remained a Director of the company until his death in 1977.
