Charlie was a rescue dog from the Dogwood Animal Shelter in Camdenton, MO. I was told he was from a litter of 6 puppies and around Christmas time, Charlie and his litter mates were put in a cardboard box and thrown out of a car window. When we got to the shelter, he and brother Dobie were the only two puppies left. Sam wanted Charlie, Joe wanted Dobie, so we adopted both. He was a dachsund/schnauzer/terrier mix, and looked like the dog actor "Benji". He was the brother of Dobie Poertner. Charlie suffered a stroke just a couple of days before he started staggering, falling, and looking dazed. He will be missed.
