Pearl Adelaide Blenis - 83, of Fredericton, NB died peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital following a short illness, on Tuesday, October 29, 2002.
She was the wife of the late H. W. (Hank) Blenis and is survived by their children, Linda of Saint John, John (Jane) of Upham and Peter (Leonie) of Edmonton, AB. She was the loving and much loved grandmother of Sarah and Jessica.
She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gordon of Rock Hill, New York and is survived by two sisters, Hazel and Florence, several nieces and nephews and her cousin Ernest Case. Predeceased by three brothers Cecil (infant), Walter and Andrew and a sister, Mildred.
Pearl was born in Rock Hill, N.Y., graduated from Monticello High School and Vassar College where she trained as a nurse. She worked as a public health nurse in Brooklyn, N.Y. and in rural New York State. During WW II she served as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and was stationed at the 113th AAF Base Unit, Charleston Army Air Field, Charleston, South Carolina. She moved to Fredericton in 1948 after her marriage and resided at the Maritime Forest Ranger School until Hank's retirement.
According to her wishes, her body has been cremated. The Family would like to thank the healthcare professionals on the third and fourth floors at the hospital for their wonderful care during her illness. Special thanks and gratitude are extended to Mrs. Jeanne Henheffer and family and Mr. and Mrs. Borden Graves for their friendship and loving support over the years.
Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to a charity of your choice.

Aunt Pearl was a warm, wise, loving woman with a wonderful laugh. It's her laugh I remember best. She and my grandmother loved to do crossword puzzles together. One of my favorite memories is of the two of them with heads bent over a puzzle book.
